Got Questions? Find All Your Garage Door Answers Here!

What types of garage doors does Fort Garage Doors offer

We offer sectional, roller, tilt-up canopy, and custom-designed doors tailored to your needs.

Are your garage doors warrantied?

Yes, all of our garage doors come with a manufacturer’s warranty. Warranty terms vary by product, and we’ll walk you through the details before your purchase.
The most common type of garage door warranty is a limited lifetime warranty, often covering the door sections against defects in materials and workmanship. However, it's crucial to understand that even with a lifetime warranty, coverage may not extend to damage caused by accidents, misuse, or normal wear and tear. Additionally, many garage door components like springs, openers, and tracks have separate warranties, often for 1 to 5 years.

How long does installation take once Ive placed an order

Installation typically takes ½ - 1 day per standard door. After your order is placed, we can schedule installation as soon as same week. However, it may take a little longer for a custom door order.

Can Fort Garage Doors provide a solution to match my homes architecture

Yes! We specialize in custom garage doors that complement your home’s style—whether you have a classic, modern, farmhouse, or craftsman-style home. Our team will work with you to select the materials, colors, and design features that harmonize with your exterior.

What should I do to maintain my garage door after installation?

To properly maintain your garage door after installation and ensure its longevity and smooth operation, follow these essential tips:

1. Regular Inspection:

Visual Inspection: At least every three months, visually inspect the entire garage door, including the panels, hardware (hinges, rollers, springs, cables), and tracks, for any signs of damage, wear, or loose parts.

Check for Wear and Tear: Look for frayed cables, rust, dents, or cracks.

Inspect Rollers and Tracks: Ensure rollers are moving smoothly and the tracks are clean and free of debris.

Safety Features: Regularly test the auto-reverse mechanism and photo-eye sensors to ensure they are functioning correctly.

Observe Door Operation: Listen for unusual noises and watch for jerky movement when opening and closing the door.

2. Lubrication:

Apply Lubricant: Lubricate all moving parts, including hinges, rollers, tracks, and springs, about every three to six months or more frequently if the door is used heavily or in harsh conditions.

Choose the Right Lubricant: Use a high-quality, silicone-based lubricant or lithium grease, specifically designed for garage doors. Avoid oil-based lubricants like WD-40, which can attract dirt and cause premature wear.

Proper Application: Apply lubricant to the hinges, roller bearings (but not nylon rollers), springs, and bearing plates. Wipe away excess lubricant.

3. Tighten Hardware:

Secure Components: Regularly check and tighten any loose nuts, bolts, or screws, especially on hinges, brackets, and the opener unit.

Caution: Never attempt to adjust any parts that are under high tension and should only be serviced by a trained professional to avoid serious injury.

4. Clean Tracks:

Remove Debris: Use a damp cloth to wipe down the tracks and remove any dirt, dust, or debris.

Do Not Lubricate Tracks: Avoid applying lubricant to the tracks, as this can hinder the rollers' movement and make the opener work harder.

5. Test Balance:

Check for Even Weight Distribution: Disconnect the opener and manually lift the door halfway; a balanced door will stay in place.

Professional Adjustment: If the door moves up or down when released, the balance needs adjustment, which should be done by a professional.

6. Replace Weatherstripping:

Inspect and Replace: Check the weatherstripping along the bottom and sides for damage and replace it if cracked or worn.

Ensure a Good Seal: New weatherstripping helps prevent drafts, moisture, and pests from entering the garage.

7. Clean the Door Surface:

Regular Cleaning: Wash the door with a mild detergent and water to remove dirt, grime, and potential corrosive substances.

Inspect for Damage: Check for rust spots on metal doors or signs of warping on wooden doors, and address them promptly.

8. Schedule Professional Inspections:

Periodic Checkups: Consider scheduling periodic inspections with a garage door specialist to identify potential problems before they become major issues.

By following these maintenance tips, you can extend the life of your garage door and ensure it operates safely and reliably for years to come.

myQ also integrates with several popular smart home and security platforms, including:
